Heat Induction
Heat Induction

Heat induction is the advancement of a bitch’s season so it occurs sooner than would be anticipated based on her previous pattern of seasons. As a general rule, we do not recommend that a bitch’s heat is brought forward as nature has concluded that a 6-9 month interval between seasons is optimal for a variety of reasons.

However, in occasional circumstances, it can be justifiable to advance a bitch’s season to allow breeders to appropriately plan ahead; so that the most attentive care can be dedicated to the bitch in late pregnancy and so that her anticipated litter of pups can be afforded the best start in life.

At Vet Repro, we have a variety of approaches that can be used to induce heat in those bitches that meet certain criteria.
