Female Procedures

Pregnancy Evaluation
Pregnancy Evaluation
Pregnancy diagnosis by ultrasound scan can be performed from around 21 days of gestation. It is quick and non-invasive and can often be performed without clipping if preferred.
We can get a reasonable idea of litter size using ultrasound and can also confirm whether all of the foetuses are alive and developing normally. Pregnancy evaluations are often done in late pregnancy too for the purposes of caesarean section planning and also to monitor the health of foetuses in higher risk pregnancies.
Vet-Repro Specialist Reproductive Practice
Here at Vet Repro, our ultrasound equipment allows us to monitor heart rates which can provide a marker of foetal stress and also to look for subtle changes in various organs such as the kidney, small intestines which are markers of maturity.

We can also perform X-rays in late pregnancy to look for late bone and tooth development and also to provide a more accurate idea of litter size prior to whelping.

Do you need advice, or would you like to discuss if the procedures we offer are right for you and your pet? We’re friendly and would be happy to help.
